ADMISSIONS TO FIRST YEAR OF DEGREE COURSE IN ENGINEERING
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
1. Eligibility of Maharashtra State Candidate and OMS candidate for appearing for MHT-CET-2008
• Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed/appeared* the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Note :
• *Candidates who have appeared for qualifying examination i.e. HSC (Std. XII) or its equivalent examination during the academic year 2007-08 and whose results are not declared till the last date of submission of application form are eligible to appear for MHT-CET-2007, however for admission to first year of degree courses in Engineering/Technology, such candidates must fulfill the criteria as mentioned in rule no. 2 to as applicable.
• Maharashtra State candidates (defined as Rule No. I-a ) and OMS candidates (defined as per Rule No. I-b) are eligible to appear for the MHT-CET- 2008 conducted by the Competent Authority of Government of Maharashtra for the academic year 2007–2008.
• Even though outside Maharashtra State candidates are eligible to appear for MHT-CET-2008, it is specifically made clear that such OMS candidates will not able to participate in the Centralized Admission Process. These OMS candidates will be able to apply for the admissions against the Institute level seats as well as the vacancy round of the admission after completion of Centralized Admission Process, Only in Unaided Private Engineering Colleges/Institutes.
• The facility of constitutional Reservation (Annexure-II) is not available for the OMS candidates. Therefore OMS Candidates will be treated as OPEN/GENERAL category candidate in the entire admission process.
2. Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra State Candidate and OMS candidate for admission to first year of degree courses in Engineering/Technology
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics AND secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND Obtained non zero score in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at MHT-CET 2008.
3. Eligibility Criteria for All India (AIEEE qualified) candidates: (for both the Maharashtra Candidates i.e. Type A, B, C, D, E and F (refer Rule No. 3.1 ) and for the OMS candidates (Refer Rule No. 3.2)
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics AND secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra state) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND Candidate should have a valid AIEEE Score (i.e. total score should be positive) for the year 2007–2008.
4 . Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National / Foreign student / PIO/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries/ Children of NRI
Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
• The NRI candidates are eligible to apply for admission against the Institute level seats, only in Unaided Private Engineering Colleges/Institutes. The Extent to which such NRI candidates shall be admitted is limited to 15% of the sanctioned intake.
• The eligibility of the candidates passing the HSC (Std. XII) equivalent examination from a school/college/Examination Board situate outside India shall be further decided by the University Authorities to which the candidate is admitted. Hence such candidates are advised to get their eligibility verified by the respective University Authorities before seeking admission to the Engineering courses in the State of Maharashtra.
• The candidate belonging to this type stated in this rule is not required to appear for the MHT-CET 2008/AIEEE 2008.
5. Eligibility criteria for GOI (Government of India) nominees:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
• The candidate belonging to this type is not required to appear for the MHT-CET2008/ AIEEE 2008.
6. Eligibility criteria for J&K migrant candidates :
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
• The candidate belonging to this type not required to appear for the MHT-CET 2008/ AIEEE 2008.
7. Eligibility criteria for MKB candidates:
In addition to the basic eligibility criterion mentioned in rule no.2, candidates who have appeared and obtained a non zero score in the MHT-CET 2008 and belonging to the Maharashtra Karnataka Disputed Border Area are required to fulfill following additional eligibility criterions.
• Candidates have to be from such villages/towns, from the Maharashtra Karnataka disputed border areas, on which Maharashtra puts its claim (Refer Annexure I).
• The candidate should produce the certificate that his/her father/mother/candidate himself/herself is a domicile of Karnataka in the disputed border area as specified in the Proforma G OR The candidate should produce the domicile certificate of his/her father/mother/candidate himself/herself stating that he/she is a resident of a village mentioned in Annexure –I.
• The candidate should have passed SSC (or equivalent) and/or HSC (or equivalent) from an Institution situated in the disputed border area. The candidate must produce a certificate from the Principal/Head Master of the College/School stating that the candidate has passed SSC/HSC (or equivalent) Examination from that Institution.
• Mother tongue of the candidate must be Marathi. The candidate must produce a certificate from the Principal/Head Master of the School from which he/she has passed the SSC (or equivalent) Examination, stating that the candidate’s Mother tongue is Marathi as per the original School record.
• Candidate should have passed SSC or HSC (or equivalent) Examination with Marathi as one of the subject.
8. Eligibility criteria for Candidates who are sons/daughters of defence service personnel
In addition to the basic eligibility criterion mentioned in rule no, candidates who have appeared and obtained a non zero score in the MHT-CET 2008 and satisfying any one of the following criterions are eligible to seek admission against seats for sons/daughters of defence service personnel.
• Candidate is a son/daughter of ex-service personnel who is domiciled in Maharashtra State (Def 1).
• Candidate is a son/daughter of active service personnel who is domiciled in Maharashtra State (Def 2).
• Candidate is a son/daughter of active service personnel (Def 3)
1. Who is transferred to Maharashtra State but is not domiciled in Maharashtra State
2. Who is not domiciled in Maharashtra State but his/her family is stationed in Maharashtra State under the provision of retention of family accommodation at the last duty station on the grounds of children’s education, provide further that, Such a candidate should have appeared and passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination from a school / college situate in state of Maharashtra.
9. Eligibility criteria for Candidates who are Physically Handicapped :
In addition to the basic qualification mentioned in rule no. 2, candidate who has appeared and obtained a non zero score in the MHT-CET 2008 (rule no. 4) and suffering from any one of the following disability is eligible to seek admission against seats for Physically Handicapped candidates [only Maharashtra state candidates (Type A,B,C,D,E and F) are eligible to apply for admission against these seats]
• Candidate who is visually impaired (blind) candidate (type P1)
• Candidate who is speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb) candidate (type P2)
• Candidate who is with orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphica, Spastic (type P3).

DIRECT ADMISSIONS TO SECOND YEAR OF DEGREE COURSE IN ENGINEERING (LATERAL ENTRY)
ELIGIBILITY: The candidate who has passed Diploma in Engineering Examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education or equivalent with securing minimum 60% marks as per the rules of Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra is eligible to take admission to Direct Second Year Degree Course in Engineering
1. The First Round of admissions for all Engineering courses will be conducted by the centralized procedure of Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, Mumbai.
2. After first round of admissions the vacant seat positions will be displayed on the college notice board and will be allotted by inter-se merit in the respective category by college authorities.
3. The merit list of Sinhgad College of Engineering is based on total marks obtained at the final year of Diploma in Engineering examination as prescribed by B.T.E, Maharashtra or equivalent.

A) ADMISSIONS TO POST-GRADUATE COURSES
Admissions will be effected according to merit list prepared on the basis of Entrance Test followed by technical interviews. Candidate having valid GATE score will be given preference. Mere passing of GATE or producing GATE score does not automatically guarantee the admission.
Academic Calendar
The classes of first year students for the academic year 2007-08 will commence from 1st August 2007 whereas, the classes for second, third and final year students will commence from 2nd July 2007.
The second semester of academic year 2007-08 will start on 1st January 2008
ANTI-RAGGING RULES :
Ragging is strictly prohibited in the college premises. If anybody found indulged in such kind of activities, strict action will be taken irrespective of the extent. Supreme Court of India has banned ragging. In order to prevent such activity in campus, several committees have been developed and brought into operation even before the start of 1st year classes by the Director/
Principal.
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the premises of the college/department/classroom as well as on public transport. Any individual or group of individuals who indulge in an act or practice of ragging, constitutes gross indiscipline and such individual/ groups shall be dealt with as per the ordinance. This includes individual or collective acts or practices that involve physical assault or threat or use of physical force, which violate the status, dignity, and honour of any student.
Students shall not :
• Violate the status, dignity and honour of girl students.
• Violate the status, dignity and honour of SC and ST students.
• Expose students to ridicule and contempt thereby affect their self-esteem.
• Entail verbal abuse and aggression indecent gestures and obscene behavior.
• The Principal/ the Anti ragging committee shall take immediate action on any information of the occurrence of ragging.

INSTRUCTIONS
1.Candidates are requested to submit duly filled application form.
2.You are required to attach two passport size photographs along with the application form.
3.Certificates of any kind such as Original/Attested of Degree/Diploma, Caste, Work experience or Extra Curricular activities need not be attached now, you are required to carry them at the time of interview.
4.The CAT Score Card will be available to the candidate at the website www.catiim.in, from 22nd January 2010 as per their notification dated August 30, 2009. Therefore , the candidate can submit the application form without the CAT scores. They can submit the print copy of their score card when the results are declared, as we will declare the merit list much later. It may be noted that we are not going to do our short listing based on the CAT score alone, although weightage is alloted for the same.
Application - How to fill the courses
All the courses offered by all the institutes are listed in the application form. A student can opt either for one course of any institute or more courses or all the courses listed in the application form. Please note that all the courses are of equal status and of two-year duration. At the end of the admission process, a merit list will be drawn for each course separately and those who stand at the top ranks, for each course will be allotted the courses according to prescribed vacancies for each course. The probability of a candidate being selected for a particular course will be communicated to the concerned applicant. The applicant will be asked to give his/her consent or otherwise.
The applicant will be expected to respond within a week. On receipt of the information from the applicant as to whether the applicant is accepting the course suggested/ proposed to him or otherwise, a final merit list will be drawn and the admission letter will be issued .While suggesting/allotting a course, the preferences given by the applicants will be taken into consideration. However, if the expert panels consider them fit for any other course or if the applicant doesn't come within the Merit-List/ vacancies for the course preferred he/she may be considered to other courses preferred by the applicant. The option of the students is therefore very critical for them to be considered for alternate courses .Therefore students are advised that they should opt for maximum or all the courses so that they have better chances of getting selected to any one of the courses offered by Sri Balaji Society.
Status of our B Schools
As mentioned above, all the courses offered by all the B-Schools of Sri Balaji Society are approved by AICTE. Almost, all the companies visiting us for Campus Placements are seeing all the qualified students of all the four Management Institutes. While the President, Sri Balaji Society is the Executive Director of BIMM, the first B - School of Sri Balaji Society, he is the Dean of all the remaining three B - Schools. The Directors of the Society are devoted for all the Management Institutes of Sri Balaji Society. Besides this, each Institute is having its Director, Full Time and Visiting Faculties, Infrastructure, Library and everything required for a growth oriented B-School. All the Institutes are located in one campus. The hostel is also common to all. The courses offered by each of these institutes are listed in other part of this prospectus. Eligibility Criteria
1. A Graduate from any statutory University with a track record of 60% of marks i.e. minimum of 60% in 10th std., 12th std. And Graduation, (55% for SC/ST and physically challenged candidates)
2. Candidates appearing for the final year Degree examination up to June 2010 can also apply. However, if they fail to match the above qualitative requirement when the result is declared for the graduation examination, they will be relieved from the course compulsorily. Same will be the case with respect to those who fail in their degree examination. The mark sheets should be submitted to the Institute latest by 01 November 2010.
3. Only those who have at least five years of industrial work experience in the field of sales, marketing, human resource, finance, operations, systems and related areas of management are eligible to apply for our PGDM - Executive Batch (Full Time). These applicants should submit the industry experience certificate signed by the Director (HR) of the Company / Companies and copies of their Appointment Letters along with the application form. There will be no difference in the course curriculum for this batch and they will receive the same input as applicable to the PGDM Program except for the fact that they can expect lateral placements. Those having lesser number of industrial experiences also get different and upgraded placements depending upon their corporate experience though they may not be admitted to the Executive Batch, but to other courses.
Reservation of Seats
• 15% of seats reserved for SC candidates
• 7.5% of seats reserved for ST candidates
• 3% seats reserved for 'physically handicapped' candidates with a 40% and above disability.
• 15% seats are reserved for Management quota.
• As a socially conscious trust we believe in the upliftment of women and hence a minimum of
50% of the seats may be considered for female candidates provided they are otherwise suitable.
Selection Procedure
Written Examination
We accept CAT & MAT scores. However, as CAT scores are issued to the students by the IIMs, any student who has appeared for the CAT examinations can apply for our courses with the CAT scores. Thus, all the four Management institutes will accept CAT & MAT scores. Incase, any student has not applied for CAT, we will accept MAT scores. However, the MAT scores will be equated and validated to the CAT score value and that will only be counted for the purpose of merit list. Anyone having any objection to the same, need not to apply.
We are not having any cut off points as we give weightage to all the above parameters in the selection process. The exact weightage to be given for the entrance examination will be decided based on a decision to be taken by the High Power Committee. Thus, any one with good percentile / percentage can apply for the selection process. However, Sri Balaji Society reserves the right to prescribe any qualitative requirement as may be required if and when considered necessary.
Essay Writing
Written Communication Skill is very important for anyone to succeed in the industry as Business Communication form an essential part of the managerial functions. Therefore, the applicants will be required to appear for an essay writing exercise on a subject, which will be given on the spot. This will be for half an hour. The topics will be general in nature and anyone who follows the National Newspapers can easily appear in the same and score good marks. The marks obtained in the examination are counted for the merit list.
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Candidates who fulfil the qualitative requirements will be called for the Group Discussions and Interviews by expert panels. Dates for the Group Discussion and Interviews will be available on our website on a later date.
While we are keen to have the admission process in all the centres mentioned above and have been having many of the centres for many years in the past, we reserve the right to cancel any of the centres depending upon the contingencies. However, it may be noted that, the hall ticket issued by us to any centre is valid to all the centres and the students who may need a change of centre due to any reason can automatically go to any other centre by just informing us through an e-mail and without expecting any response to the same.
Hall Ticket Issued by any Institute
Admit Card issued to any centre is valid for all the centres and candidates can appear before the selection committee in any centre provided they have informed about their intention to appear before a selection centre other than the one mentioned in the admit card well in advance. No separate communication for change of centre will be communicated by us. The candidates are required to come with all their original and certified copies of degrees and mark sheets when they come for the selection process. The same will be scrutinized by our staff before permitting the candidate to go through the selection process.

• Attested true copies of all Mark-Sheets and Certificates of 10 std., 12 Std., and Graduation.

Submission Of CAT Result/Score
Candidate those who have already submitted the application without CAT score are now requested to carry score Card at the time of Selction process. Please mention your Name and Registration Number on the reversed side of the CAT score Card. It may be noted that we are not going to do our short listing based on the CAT score alone, although weightage is allotted for the same.
Merit List
On completion of interviews, we compare the performance of all candidates appearing for the interview and generate a final merit list based on their overall performance. Weightage is given to written test, marks obtained in the essay writing, GD and PI. The candidate is considered for the course which he has preferred according to the priority mentioned by him / her in the application form. In case, he / she is not selected to the course applied by him / her, then he / she will be considered for other courses and selected on merit. It may be noted that, all the Management courses are of the same status and the inputs are also similar. As we have already mentioned the placement opportunities for all the courses are very good as has been proved by the track record of Sri Balaji Society.
It means that each institution is important and enjoys equal status and attention from the top management. We select the best possible candidates for all the Institutes from amongst the common pool of all the candidates applied for admission to any or all the institutes of Sri Balaji Society; although such a consideration arises only when a candidate is not selected for admission to the particular institute to which he or she may have applied originally. By doing so, we are in no way taking away any opportunity from anyone but are providing an additional opportunity to get selected in any of the prestigious institutes of Sri Balaji Society.
This is done subject to the following conditions: -
(a) That they are eligible for the same. To become eligible, they should have opted for the institute(s) / course(s) (one can opt for either one institute / course (s) or for all the institutes / all the courses as per his / her choice in the application form) for us t o consider them.
(b) That vacancy exists in those Institute(s) for such a consideration.
(c) That they come up in the merit of scope of those institutes / courses.
CONFIRMATION OF ADMISSION
Selected students will be required to remit the first instalment of the course fees within one month from the date of issue of admission letter to confirm the admission.

EDUCATIONAL LOAN
BIMM, BITM, BIIB & BIMHRD have been specially approved for educational loan schemes for the students who gets admission to any of these institutions from Andhra Bank, HDFC Bank & Central Bank of India as Sri Balaji Society has signed MOUs with these banks. All those students who get admitted in any of these institutes can approach these banks for availing educational loan. However students have the liberty to approach any bank as per their convenience.
Fees Structure

(On or before 8th of October of the corresponding year)
Note: Management Quota fees is twice the total course fee.
Refund rules
(a) Cost of the Prospectus and Application form is Non-Refundable.
(b) If admission is cancelled before the commencement of the academic programme, Rs.1000/- from the fees paid by the student will be deducted and the balance refunded.
(c) If admission is cancelled after joining the course and if the seat consequently falling vacant has been filled by another candidate by last date of admission that is, one month from the date of commencement of the course, Rs.20,800/- from the fees paid by the student will be deducted and the balance refunded.
(d) No refund is permissible after 30 days from the commencement of the course.

Modern Education Society’s College of Engineering Pune is situated in a very healthy location, heart of the educational city, midway between the Pune Railway Station and Bund Garden. The college has separate building. A new three storeyed building is presently being constructed in the college campus. The entire college office will be housed in this building and all section of the office will be under one roof. The college also has Boys and Girls separate hostels, Canteen Hall and Gymnasium. An extensive area of about three hectors is used as playground and a Gymkhana Pavilion built thereon is used both as a stadium and a gymnasium. An open-air stadium bordering one side of the playground can accommodate about 1200 students.
