Amrita School of Engineering (ASE) has announced that the Amrita Entrance Examination 2011 will be conducted on April 17, 2011 for admission into various B.Tech engineering programmes.

The B.Tech engineering courses for which the test will be conducted include Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Candidates born on or after July 1, 1990 only are eligible to apply for admission.

The application form can be obtained by post, from the Admission Coordinators of ASE on a written request indicating their full communication address together with a Demand Draft for Rs.850/- drawn in favor of Amrita School of Engineering payable at Coimbatore. It can also be obtained from the university counter of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bengaluru and Coimbatore.

Candidates can also apply online with the payment gateway or apply through the website and submit the application printout duly signed, along with Demand Draft for Rs.850/- drawn in favor of Amrita School of Engineering payable at Coimbatore and a passport size color photograph affixed in the specified location.

The last date for the sale and submission of application forms is March 25, 2011.

CEC E-Course on Editing for Films & Television

Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) India, is launching a Worldwide e-Course on Editing for Films and Television. The registration for the course starts on 15th November 2010. The course will commence on 3rd January, 2011 and will be completed by 18th February, 2011. About 72 hour of classroom teaching have been condensed into about 13 hours of video programmes in 25 episodes of half an hour duration each. There will be seven live interactive sessions with the subject expert to clarify queries of the participants.

Basically designed for film and video editors, this course aspired to give an insight into the art and craft of editing. It will familiarize the participants with a range of activities required for telling a story through visuals and sound. Along the way it touches upon several issues connected with editing, right from its basic concepts to the technical aspects of electronic editing on linear and non-linear platform.

Applications are invited for the CDC Fellowship Scheme

This award is offered to students who undertake a live consulting project during their education programme.

Academic Requirement to apply

At least 80% marks in 10+2
Student should be enrolled in B.E / B.Tech / MBA / PGDBM courses from AICTE / UGC approved institutions / colleges / universities.

Fellowship Amount

Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand) would be awarded to the students whose reports are accepted by the Centre as per the guidelines given under the Evaluation process.

IGNOU ACT-Online Academic Counsellors' Training

IGNOU has started the Academic Counsellors' Training–Online (ACT-Online), an online capacity development programme for teachers covering topics like evaluation of assignments, development of study skills and usage of new technologies for student support.

The programme is specifically for those who are engaged in or wish to be engaged in the task of providing tutoring/counselling and other technology-mediated support to the distance learners. The ACT-Online is grounded in both the theory and practice of Open Distance Learning (ODL). Some of the important topics covered under this programme are: ODL concept, models, development, student support, tutoring and counselling, importance of assignments, evaluation of assignment responses, development of study skills and self-learning, support to the educational disadvantaged students and the use of new technologies for student support.

After taking this course, an IGNOU official said, the counsellor will be able to help students develop effective learning skills, organise support for disadvantaged and physically-challenged students and use modern computer operating system for student support.
